| In 2004 Star Energy Group plc submitted proposals to appraise and exploit the Albury gasfield. These plans threatened serious environmental impact for recreational users, residents & wildlife in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The SaveBlackheathCommon campaign was set up to defend our environment by opposing industrialisation of Blackheath Common and Albury Heath. Star Energy have had to abandon their initial plans and significantly modify plans for the current appraisal drilling at their existing Albury Park site. Albury Parish Council continues to closely monitor the situation and hosts a community liaison panel. For further details see www.albury.org.uk
